FEAST OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL 2022

On September 27, the Vincentian Family celebrated the solemnity of Saint Vincent de Paul, apostle of charity.

Thanks to the intuition of Sister Anna Luisa, it was the first time that the celebration of this anniversary, so dear to the Daughters of Charity and the Vincentian community, was held at the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter.

After the Eucharist, the commemorative stamp of the centenary of the Dispensary was also delivered to all the faithful participants at the premises of the Dispensary.

Saint Vincent constantly reminds us that God dwells among us and, above all, in the Poor. Hence the expression "leaving God for God", that God that we must see in all the people who need our help. He speaks to us in the circumstances, in the events of life... but our vision of faith is essential, which ignites, gives value to action and allows us to find God.

Saint Vincent tells us that "service to the poor is to be preferred to everything", therefore we, as Christians, must see "the Face of Jesus" in our suffering brother and lift him up. This is the charism that Saint Vincent and Saint Luisa have given us; all we have to do is live it with fidelity, always renewed; and he recommended to his Daughters to "approach the poor with humility, sweetness and cordiality".

To live charity, with a Spirit of faith, we must take care of the beauty and holiness that must grow in the path of Christian life and service, it pleases God, and is of benefit to others; the attitude of faith and service consequently leads us to love all the people we meet, especially the poor, as Jesus himself loved them. It is He who uses our hands, our mouth, our feet, our eyes, our heart to love everyone.
